Happy Friday friends! Let’s catch up!
When it rains it pours, right?! Well…it’s quite literally raining here in CA again and poor little Emie is sick for the first time this season! Argh! When it comes to the house stuff, I’d say we’re about 60% packed which means we’re drowning in cardboard and we need to kick it into high gear the next couple of weeks – and of course I packed away Emie’s nebulizer and humidifier right before she got sick so I had to unpack several boxes just to find it so the little babe could feel better again. Oye!
In better news – our house is officially sold! Woohoo! I’m a little cheesy & sentimental and took a quick screen shot for posterity sake. It’s been a good 3 years at the condo but I’m looking forward to a new adventure.
Now for the fun stuff…
I’ll be the first to admit that fashion isn’t really my thing but since I’ve dubbed 2019 as the year of self care, my wardrobe (and what I put on my body) has been more of a focus for me than it’s been in years past. After loosing the twins, buying a house, and having our rainbow baby, it’s safe to say that caring about what I wore was the last thing I had time or energy to devote to these last 4 years.
At the start of 2019, I decided that a capsule wardrobe would probably work best for my lifestyle. The premise behind a capsule wardrobe is simple: it makes getting dressed EASY! If you want to see what I’ve been pinning for my capsule wardrobe you can follow me on Pinterest here or more specifically, my capsule wardrobe board here.
I plan to talk more in depth about my capsule wardrobe in a whole separate post but for now here are my mom edition closet staples that I swear by and are what I plan to build my entire capsule wardrobe around:
Zella Live-In Leggings – far and away the best leggings I’ve ever come across. They keep all the mom bits tucked and tight while also being thick enough for full bum coverage. They’re name says it all: these are the leggings you’ll live in.
Thursday Boots – a bit of an investment but I’m all about quality over quantity these days and I wear these boots every day (not kidding) to work.
Le Specs Sunnies – the only kid proof but Mom cool sunglasses you’ll ever need and love. I’m a sucker for the matte black finish and the fact that they’re rubbery – so when your toddler grabs them off your face and sends them flying you don’t have to worry about scratches or breakage. It’s a win-win!
Rib-knit Tanks – these crazy affordable tanks look great layered under cardis but also just a great lounge around / go to bed top too. I like the thickness of the tank and overall stretchiness too. If they get wrecked after a day of painting, I don’t feel bad about ruining it because they are so cheap!
Distressed Jeans – the perfect weekend jean for that casual relaxed look. Cuff them at the ankle with a pair of converse or athletic shoes for an effortlessly casual outfit. Pair this outfit with a hat and you can usually find me in some version of this at the ball fields.
Madewell Cardigan – seriously the coziest cardigan ever! Better yet – they’re currently 1/2 off and come in a bunch of colors. I snagged the grey and the black in addition to the camel color I already own and love!
Skinny Jeans – I’ve got major love for the Wit & Wisdom jeans from Nordstrom because it’s been the best jean for my body post baby. This style is called the Ab-solution which is designed to “mold and hold” according to the website and I concur!
New Balance Athletic Shoes – ok, the only thing in this round up that I don’t actually own – yet! I’ve run my current sneakers to hell and back and I plan on replacing them with these! Aren’t they cute?!
Utility Jacket – California weather doesn’t usually require heavy coats but this one does the trick on chilly Summer nights. Pair with the rib-knit tank or stripped tee and you’ve got an easy outfit that looks good too!
If you’re interested in what staples Kayleigh keeps in her closet – be sure to head on over to her blog to check it out. I know I’m definitely curious because she lives in a colder climate so her choices are bound to be different!
Till next week – see ya!
