Softball season is kicking into high gear around here – we’re currently playing 4 games (yes, 4!) a week and we’re still plugging away at home packing boxes too. T-minus 10 days until we move! Eek!
Not much else happening around here but if you’ve missed out on any of mine & Kayleigh’s Life Lately posts and are playing catch up, here’s where you can find them:
- Week One:Life Lately + What’s In My Amazon Cart
- Week Two: Life Lately + My Go-To Home Décor Stores
- Week Three: Life Lately + My Closet Staples
One of the things I love most is shopping small – for both home décor and clothing too. I think when you mix both big box items with one of a kind small shop items, it creates a home styling sweet spot that evokes a layered and found feel that I’m always striving for but don’t always achieve.
I’ve shared Danielle and her pillow shop before because really…truly…they are some of my favorite pillows ever & I have so many throughout the house! I have these white mudcloth pillows plus the black & tan ones in the photo below that are no longer offered but that’s one of the things I love most about her shop! Danielle (a former interior designer) hand selects and curates a collection of fabrics that work well together and would look good in any home. Her inventory is constantly changing and she’s always adding new patterns to her shop which makes it hard to resist adding more to my ever growing collection of Danielle Oakey pillows.
These green ones have been on my wish list forever plus here are a few that I’m hoping to add next:
Sophia is an Interior Designer from Canada with a knack for finding the best thrifted goods and bringing them back to life. She’s curated a shop full of household items and vintage treasures and I.WANT.IT.ALL. My Mom purchased me a set of her herringbone pillows with gorgeous leather piping detail for my birthday and they so well made and look so luxe!
These brass trays would look lovely in a bathroom or kitchen to corrall hand soaps and such, and this ceramic apple would be so cute on a shelfie! And if you aren’t already following Sophia on Instagram, you really should! Not only is her home gorgeous, but she’s pretty hilarious too!
Here’s just a few of my very faves in her shop right now:
Another small shop that I’m absolutely obsessed with is Vitruvi and they sell essential oils. You might have seen me share them in my stories a time or two and I’ll be honest and say that I wasn’t always on the oil train – it all seemed so confusing! But! As weird as it sounds, it was actually the packaging & stone diffusers that won me over and got me intrigued. The diffusers are discreet (we have the white) and the vials of oil are black & white (totally my aesthetic) – both of which I could see myself displaying in my home and not mind looking at. Now I can’t stop, won’t stop and essential oils are easily an everyday routine now.
The Quiet blend is what we diffuse at nap time and bed time and their Pacific blend is easily my favorite scent EVER! If you’re in the market for a new diffuser or want to check out some of their essential oils, use THEHOMEBODYHOUSE for 20% off your entire order.
I had the pleasure of being featured by Yana late last year on her blog featuring 30 Home Décor Bloggers on Instagram and she was kind enough to send me some of her candles to try out & let me tell you – they are the best smelling candles I have ever (I mean ever) come across.
Yana hand pours these candles from her home in Ohio, the packaging is simple but beautiful, and her candles are made with clean ingredients – 100% soy wax, zinc free cotton wicks, and phthalate free blends of oils for fragrance. My fave is the eycalyptus mint – yumm!
Jenny is a powerhouse in the interior design community and her launch of Juniper Print Shop with its curated collection of affordable art made bringing art into your home easy and accessible to the masses. I have several of her prints throughout our home but Big Sur which is prominently featured in our guest bathroom is one of my very faves.
I hope you enjoyed my round-up of favorite small shops – there’s a lot of great ones out there! If you have one and would like to share it with me, please share in the comments below.
If you don’t want the fun to end here, check out Kayleigh’s round up of her favorite small shops below – all totally different from mine!
